Overhead Insulated Covered Line Wire (ICEA S-70-547)

Overhead Insulated Covered Line Wire (ICEA S-70-547)

CONDUCTOR: Single Conductor compressed or concentric HD aluminum, aluminum alloy, or ACSR

COVERING: Black, Linear Low-Density Polyethylene (LLDPE)

black extruded Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE)

Black Polyethylene (PE)

Medium-Density Polyethylene (MDPE)

High-Density Cross-linked Polyethylene (HDXLPE)

Application

Overhead Insulated Covered Line Wire (ICEA S-70-547). These conductors are intended primarily for the distribution of electrical energy under normal conditions of overhead(aerial)installations and service outdoors.

Covered Line Wire is used primarily for overhead secondary distribution lines. It is not an electrically insulated conductor and is treated as bare conductor when installed.
Single Conductor Covered Line Wire is intended for use in overhead distribution circuits operating at primary or secondary voltages. The covering provides circuit protection against momentary contact with other conductors or trees. Because the covering carries no voltage rating, the conductors must be installed on insulators adequate for the intended service voltage. The user should consider the dielectric compatibility of the covering, insulator and conductor/insulator tie.

The conductors are stranded, circular compressed or uncompressed aluminum, copper, aluminum-alloy, ACSR or ACSR/AW etc., concentrically stranded and covered for Weather or UV resistant with thermoplastic polyethylene (PE) or Cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) in black.
